The SM4BAT FS<\/strong> records to full-spectrum WAV files. \nFull-spectrum recorders have a significant signal-to-noise ratio \nadvantage over zero-crossing recorders so you’ll record more bats with \nhigher quality for more effective analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SM4BAT ZC<\/strong> is a zero-crossing, lower-cost alternative to \nthe SM4BAT FS. Zero-crossing bat recorders detect fewer bats than full \nspectrum bat recorders, but are well suited for applications that \nrequire very low power consumption and high storage for extended \ndeployments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SMM-U2 microphone is significantly quieter than the previous \ngeneration SMM-U1, and competitor’s microphones. The superior signal to \nnoise ratio results in recording fainter bats and bat calls at greater \ndistances. In addition, more echolocation pulses are recorded, which \nallows more accurate identification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The enclosure’s innovative waterproof design includes a built-in \nmounting bracket that provides a wide range of mounting options. The \nmicrophone includes a 5 meter cable, and can connect with cables up to \n100m in length with no adverse effect on recording quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SM4BAT FS has a recording run time up to 450 hours (e.g. 45 \n10-hour nights) depending on bat activity and other factors. The SM4BAT \nZC run time is up to 700 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
